Lessons from Nature | Yosemite National Park

“You are NOT a nature girl, are you??!!”  If I’m being entirely honest, I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to bugs, unknown rustling in bushes & creepy critters.  However I think this road trip taught me to be a bit more of a “nature girl”.  I had the privilege of traveling to Mariposa to shoot a wedding with my amazing friend Taylor & since it’s about 5 hours from LA, we decided to make a weekend out of it.  We initially planned on driving straight home.  However once Taylor heard that the giant sequoias were only an hour away, we decided to take a spontaneous detour to explore.

There’s something about the serenity of the outdoors that refreshes your soul & makes you feel alive.  Feeling so insignificantly small standing next to the giant sequoias in Yosemite, suddenly puts life in perspective.  It doesn’t come naturally to my very planned, punctual, organized character but I’m starting to realize that there’s so much more to life than dates & schedules.  Life can be so much richer when you let go.  So I’m learning to breathe.  To relax my mind.  To put aside the to do list.  To just be present.  To savor the experiences life brings.  To cherish the people you encounter.  To embrace life.  To love spontaneity.  I’m learning to grow.
